For Kim Walden, the President of the Thomasville Rotary Club, her passion is Polio Plus. Please join me in welcoming Kim as our newest member of the Arch Klumph society of Our Rotary Foundation. While Kim was attending the President Elect Training Seminar (PETS) earlier this year, she heard about the Bagwell’s challenge to match dollar for dollar major gifts to the Polio campaign. She realized that by making a donation of $250,000 to the Foundation Polio program the end results would be a total gift of $1.5 million. Her $250,000 gift is being matched by the Bagwells from District 6910 turning the gift into $500,000.The Gates Foundation match of 2 to 1 then turns the gift into $1.5 million.

Kim stated that “Ending Polio requires a huge effort by so many all across the world.I’m excited to be able to do my part to help make a difference in our world with this worthy goal.I can’t wait to see what we accomplish and look forward to the day we end polio!”

Thank you Kim for your generosity.

This past week, I also had the opportunity to be part of the orientation session for our two District 6900 Global Grant Scholars who are about to set out on their Masters studies in one of the Rotary Foundation's six areas of focus. Kaitlan Sandor is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Dunwoody and will be studying at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, while Sean Minton, sponsored by the Rotary Club of North Columbus, will be studying at King's College in London. We will be sharing more of their story along the way this year, but know that it's your generous contributions to Our Rotary Foundation that make these scholarships possible.

So what is your passion? Is it children, clean water, food, health, economic development, Polio, or peace? Whatever your passion is, you have 1.2 million Rotarians that want to help you fulfill your passion. Donations to the annual fund of Our Rotary Foundation come back in three years for us to use for District Grants, Global Grants, and Global Grant Scholarships. What changes do you want to make in your community, state, country and world? Please contact me if you have any questions relating to Our Foundation and/or would like to discuss your passion.
