The Rotary Club of Metro Atlanta Comes To Life

In May, the Rotary Clubs in District 6900 welcomed the 71st club, The Rotary Club of Atlanta Metro, to its District 6900 family. The ceremony for Rotary International charter 90000 took place at the Donaldson-Bannister Farm in Dunwoody and was attended by then District Governor Court Dowis, fellow Rotarians and Rotaract Club of Atlanta members. PDG Court inducted many of the attendees and read 2018-2019 RI President Barry Rassin’s beautiful letter of encouragement and support.

It has become apparent that once Rotaractors turn 30, they become uncertain of their decision on whether they are keen on joining Rotary, mainly because of the age gap between them and the already accomplished professional members. Another discouraging aspect is the high annual dues, as someone starting in their career path might feel the financial push back.

In his message to the extended worldwide Rotary family, current RI President Mark Daniel Maloney urged and stressed the importance to conform to the rules that the organization has been adapting to for years. Yet, he encouraged and pushed leaders to be more creative in their individuality of how each club retains and attracts new members. This is one of the many important reasons that the Rotary Club of Atlanta Metro was established.

The Rotary Club of Atlanta Metro was created to resolve some of the issues that Rotaractors in the district faced. The idea behind this new club is allowing members to take part dually in both clubs until they are at the age where they can easily advance into Rotary. The core of the club will continue to push for vocation coupled with fellowship and service whilst championing these Rotary mottoes. Whether it is helping others in their communities or working on international relief projects, this is what pushes Rotary members towards that happy ending or shall we say an amazing start.
