Never Too Old To Join Rotary

"Here is living proof that you are never too old to join Rotary," is how I introduce my dad to the Roswell Rotary Club. My dad, Bob Owens, is the newest member of the Boulder Rotary Club in Boulder, CO. I said that jokingly to make a point. We often focus on trying to attract younger members instead of focusing on recruiting good Rotarians. At the tender young age of 77 he finally has the time in his life to give back to his community and is excited to get involved. I was impressed at how intentional his home club was at getting him engaged. During his visit he attended a virtual Red Badge meeting to learn more about his club and their committees. He also participated in a mental health committee meeting for a new project they are working on. It was a great Rotary moment for me to exchange flags with my dad and I am proud to be a 3rd generation Rotarian.
