Value of GRSP
Oglethorpe Students Value GRSP for Personal and Professional Development

Four Georgia Rotary Student Program scholars believe Oglethorpe University provides the perfect backdrop to help achieve their professional as well as personal goals. The group agreed that participating in GRSP has benefitted them in many ways. They said they appreciate the efforts Georgia Rotarians are making on their behalf.

Maria Isabel Moraes Lanzelotti of Brazil is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Peachtree City. She is studying theatre and political science. Kristian Sandal of Denmark sponsored by the Rotary Club of Buckhead and is studying liberal arts. Paisley Ward of Australia is sponsored by the Rotary Club of East Cobb and is studying communications. She will finish her law degree when she returns to her home country next year. Shashwat Pradhan of Nepal is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Dunwoody. He is studying business and is a member of the university’s golf team.

“What I value the most is all the great people I have met from many countries close and far away from my home, including my friends in GRSP and on Oglethorpe’s campus as well as my host family," Kristian said. “Academically GRSP has given me the amazing opportunity to study at a liberal arts university. I have the opportunity to take courses on many different subjects, thereby becoming more generally educated, in a way that the educational system in Denmark does not offer.”

GRSP scholars spend one academic year together on a college campus, in Rotary Club meetings, participating in service projects and sharing cultural customs with their host families and other students as they develop leadership skills with an emphasis on peace through understanding.
