Dunwoody Rotarians Help Anchor Place Respite Celebrate Valentine's Day

Anchor Place Respite Care in Dunwoody held a very special "Harmony and Hearts" community Valentine's Day celebration for caregivers and their family members living with memory issues - all with some help and support from Dunwoody Rotarians. Past President Louise Barden helped with event planning and Charlie and Anita Augello provided a tasty Italian lunch from the East 48th Street Market. Flower arrangements created by Anchor Place participants adorned the tables. Members of The Loose Shoes Band provided music that had the whole room dancing - some said this was the first time they'd danced with their partner in many years.

The Rotary Club of Dunwoody helped start Anchor Place almost three years ago - and has logged well over 1,000 volunteer hours since then. Anchor Place warmly welcomes older adults living with mild-to-moderate memory issues and other cognitive challenges to our community space. Participants enjoy a range of stimulating activities, including music, art, cognitive stimulation, games, service projects, gentle movement, a shared meal, prayer, conversation, and lots of laughter.
