End Polio Now
Columbus Renews Effort to End Polio

The Rotary Club of Columbus is reigniting its commitment to eradicating polio through renewed awareness, education, and fundraising. For the first time in several years, the club is highlighting the PolioPlus initiative with videos, a public health guest speaker, and new fundraising opportunities featuring End Polio Now pins and stickers.

At a recent meeting, Rotarian Dr. Asante Hilts introduced Brandi Nelson, Epidemiology Manager for the West Central Georgia Health District, who spoke about the district’s three-step approach to polio prevention: Identify, Isolate, and Inform. She also described outreach programs like Public Health on Wheels, which brings vital health education directly to communities across 16 counties.

"Raising awareness for PolioPlus isn’t just about remembering the past—it’s about finishing the job for future generations. And we plan to finish strong” said Club President Alan Harkness.
