Waights, President of LaGrange College, and a minister of the Methodist Church, was one of the most articulate and inspiring speakers to serve as District Governor of our district. Under the direction of Conference Chairman, Jim Brim, District Governor Nominee, the District Conference was outstanding in several ways. Registration, including students, was 1,234. Georgia’s Rose Queen and Miss Thomasville, Seva Day, entertained with beautiful singing, and nationally known entertainer, Jerry Clower, rolled them in the aisles with homespun wit. Dr. Bevel Jones completed the roster of outstanding program speakers. A new club was chartered at Douglas County, on May 5, 1975, sponsored by Bremen.
