Charlie started his year with 43 clubs extending from Ringgold to Cairo. During the year another new club was chartered in Cedartown. Charlie emphasized the Georgia Rotary Student Program and had a successful student conclave in Thomasville with 258 students and Rotarians in attendance, including Will Watt, founder of the program. One of the highlights of the year was the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Albany Club. Among many dignitaries in attendance was Rotary International President-Elect Luther Hodges, along with 14 Past District Governors. At his District Conference a new attendance record was set with over 1,000 registrations.
