From the District Governor

Celebrating Our Rotary Connections

By Jim Squire

I have heard over and over from Past District Governors that the best part of the job as District Governor is visiting the clubs, and after completing most of my first month of club visits I can now say that is exactly true. What wonderful work is being done by the Rotarians at the Fayetteville, East Cobb, Atlanta Metro, Atlanta Airport, Atlanta West End, and my home club of Sandy Springs. And I truly mean Rotarians, not just members of a Rotary Club!

Speaking of making a difference, many of you have shared stories in this newsletter - thanks for all you do and please keep sharing your ideas and accomplishments. [more]

By Cheryl Greenway

For Kim Walden, the President of the Thomasville Rotary Club, her passion is Polio Plus. Please join me in welcoming Kim as our newest member of the Arch Klumph society of Our Rotary Foundation. While Kim was attending the President Elect Training Seminar (PETS) earlier this year, she heard about the Bagwell’s challenge to match dollar for dollar major gifts to the Polio campaign. She realized that by making a donation of $250,000 to the Foundation Polio program the end results would be a total gift of $1.5 million. Her $250,000 gift is being matched by the Bagwells from District 6910 turning the gift into $500,000.The Gates Foundation match of 2 to 1 then turns the gift into $1.5 million. [more]
