No Meeting This Week
Join Us June 18 for Thirsty Thursday at East 48th Street Market

Tomorrow night - Thursday, June 18 - we are moving the Thirsty Thursday party - with all social distancing precautions in place - from Zoom to an in-person social hour in the parking lot outside Rotarian Charlie Augello's East 48th Street Market, 2462 Jett Ferry Rd., Atlanta GA 30338! Festivities begin at 5:30 pm and continue until about 7:00 pm. Here's how the evening will work:

• Please bring your chair, a small side table if you want one, and, if you are ordering wine, your own wine glass. Also bring your mask, so we can be safe if talking closer than six feet.
• If you ordered food in advance from the Market's daily menu, you can go into the Market, pick up your food order, select your beverage (including soft drinks, bottled beer and bottles of wine) and pay.
• If you didn't pre-order, you are still welcome! You can go in and place an order and wait for it to be ready.

Note: We are carefully watching the weather. You might want to bring an umbrella.

Future Meeting Plans
What Early to Mid-July Will Look Like for the Rotary Club of Dunwoody

President Cathie, President-Elect Ardy and your Board of Directors have been carefully considering our plans for the immediate future. While most if not all of us miss the opportunity to get together face-to-face, we are 100% committed to doing that safely. Here's what we're thinking for the next few weeks:

• Our next regular meeting will be July 10 - and we will hold it in person at the Dunwoody Country Club. Ardy and our officers and directors will be installed for the new Rotary Year - and we plan to welcome our three new members who have joined during the pandemic. DCC is the only place that can accommodate us right now with the social distancing we think makes it safer for us to meet in person. We will require masks - and will have masks and hand sanitizer available. The Country Club will take temperatures at the front door - anyone with a temperature of 100 or more will be asked to leave. DCC staff (with masks and gloves) will provide cafeteria style food service and pre-rolled silverware, water and such will be available at DCC-manned stations in the meeting room. There will be plexi-glass shields between you and food servers.
• Our next Thirsty Thursday - on July 16 - will also be at the Dunwoody Country Club. This will be our year-end celebration, and President Cathie will present awards for the 2019-20 Rotary year. We'll be back with more details - just know that all the same precautions described above will be in place for the July 16 event.
• Our July 24 meeting is also likely to be at the Dunwoody Country Club - a breakfast meeting with Police Chief Billy Grogan as our speaker.

You will be receiving a meeting invitation for our July 10 meeting - we'd like everyone to respond so we have an idea of how many people are ready to join us for in-person meetings. We will also be reaching out to everyone by telephone in the next week or so and may send a short, online survey to gather your thoughts about getting back together. We recognize that this is an individual decision for everyone - and that people are in different places with regard to how quickly we move out of "shelter in place." We would like to hear your concerns and ideas, and are ready to try to answer any questions you may have.

We are also exploring the possibility of keeping a Zoom option in place for attending for those who aren't yet ready for in-person meetings and will keep you posted on our progress.

RI 2020 Convention
Want More Rotary Connection This Week? Join the World at the Rotary International Virtual Convention

As most of us know, the Rotary International Convention scheduled for Honolulu, Hawaii this June was cancelled due to the Coronavirus. Rotary International recently announced that it would be welcoming the world of Rotary to a virtual convention - from June 20-26 - all FREE of charge.

RI has issued a list of dates and times for Virtual Convention programming. As you can see, the convention does not run the entire day, but instead will be broadcast at a few set times each day. Additionally, if you miss the live broadcasts, they will be readily available on the convention website, providing some flexibility for you and your event attendees to participate at your own convenience. The Virtual Convention is free to all attendees, however, there will be a sign in process in order to access the programming. Detailed Instructions for this process will be provided before the event.

We hope that you will take the time to join these sessions and to participate in some of the fun features of the Virtual Convention: wearing and sharing photos and videos of us in our Aloha wear, the Virtual Walking Challenge, and interacting with others in the virtual House of Friendship.

Here's what we know of the schedule now:

• Saturday, June 20, 9:00 – 10:15 am Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-5): Together We Connect – Virtual Convention General Session 1
• Sunday June 21, 9:00 - 10:15 am Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-5): Together We Learn – Virtual Convention General Session 2
• Monday 22 June – Friday 26 June: Featured Breakouts: Each day, one breakout will be offered at each of the following times (all listed here in Eastern Daylight Time) ... 9:00 - 10:00 am, 1:00 - 2:00 pm and 7:00 - 8:00 pm. You can view the list of breakout sessions on the convention website - keep in mind that times there are shown in Chicago time and that many of the breakouts will take place in July.

More detailed information about the Featured Breakouts, the platform that will be used, and instructions for accessing the programming and transitioning back and forth between events will be shared as soon as it is available on the convention website. You can also register on that site - admission is free.
